Tracks:

Marco Lackner was born 1972 in Feldkrichen/Austria. He studied saxophone in Klagenfurt and Graz (Austria). He decided to learn more about composition and started to work at Heinz Cadek. After his move to Germany he finished his studies in Cologne with Bill Dobbins.

As a saxophone player Marco Lackner is very experienced. He was playing In the Austrian Jazz Orchestra, European Youth Jazz Orchestra, Peter Herbolzheimers Rhythm Combination & Brass and also in Bob Brookmeyers New Art Orchestra.

Marko Lackner was able to find some international wellknown artists for his first own recording „Awakening“. Most of these artist he knows from the New Art Orchestra. Hubert Nuss, an excellent piano player from Cologne, puts a fresh note to the work.

On „Awakening“ you can find Marko Lackners own compositions. They are modern and fresh and have some eurepean influences. Lackners idea is to combine the symphonic elements of a big band with the creativity of soloing artists. In other words to create a music blend from european roots and new modern jazz.

The result is a really modern sounding big band jazz, but some titles perfom him playing in a duo with Hubert Nuss on piano.
