"...Well done, nice playing and compositions. I´m proud of you!" (Ack van Rooyen)

Great praise from a qualified source, and not at all exaggerated. The young trumpeter Frederik Köster studied in Detmold and Cologne and already played in Peter Herbolzheimer’s "BuJazzO" orchestra for several years as well as composed and arranged for them during that time. His skills were also recognized by international colleagues at an early stage, and as a result he played with Phil Woods, Albert Mangelsdorff, Tony Lakatos, Lalo Schifrin and many more. He has directed his own quartet, which shares his ideas of modern and groove-oriented music, for several years in addition to engagements in the Cologne Contemporary Jazz Orchestra and the WDR Big Band. The guitarist Tobias Hofmann, who is at home in all styles, contributes loops as well as at times rock-oriented solos. Robert Landfermann – by the way, also bassist of the Benjamin Schäfer Trio (Jazz thing Next Generation Vol. 4) – is certainly one of the best young German musicians on his instrument, and Ralf Gessler on drum set is skilled in playing in numerous groups from jazz to Latin.

All compositions and arrangements of the CD are the work of Frederik. They demonstrate his outstanding talent, not only his ability to play trumpet and flugelhorn with a radiating and extremely soft sound in peaceful passages, but also to compose songs, which are intelligent but still very accessible.

The CD is refined even further by guest performances by Paul Heller on two songs, a fellow musician in the WDR Big Band and established as one of the best German tenor saxophonists.
