The „Jazz thing Next Generation“-series, on which Esther Kaiser, Anette von Eichel, Ignaz Dinné, Benjamin Schäfer, Martin Auer, Oktoposse, Cyminology, Christian Krischkowsky, Nadia Maria Fischer, Gary Fuhrmann, Tré, Coustics, Tobi Hofmann, Frederik Köster, HDV-Trio, Jochen Baldes Subnoder, Subtone , Adrian Reiter Quartet and Christof May have debuted on Double Moon Records, is now being continued, already with Volume 21.

Just another jazz quartet with a saxophonist as leader? No, the four young musicians sparkle with the joy of playing and experimenting, and - following several years of playing together - their joy in inspiration, interaction and improvisation has also become channeled into a purposeful expedition into the shallows of modern jazz. The band formed around Lorenz Hargassner already has an unmistakable sound now. The leader himself, who composes most of the pieces of the band, creates sounds with his horn, which often seem to be going correctly in the direction of the „previously unheard“. The compositions - regardless of whether up-tempo pieces or expressive ballads - are celebrated on the highest level of energy and with complete concentration. Youthful freshness and easy-going handling of tradition go together with great individual artistic performances and the unconditional will to create new listening experiences as a combo.

Born in Vienna in 1978, Hargassner lives in Hamburg today and studied in Vienna, Hanover, New York and Berlin with big names such as Frank Gratkowski, Seamus Blake and Peter Weniger. And in the meantime, no less a musician than Adam Holzman swears by him as a sideman on his European tours!

With Elmar Brass (a pianist much in demand and with a few of his own projects), Roland Fidezius (bassist in various ensembles and also active as a film and theater musician) as well as drummer Paul Kaiser (studied and taught at the renowned L.A. Music Academy and has played with Bob Mintzer and Jimmy Haslip, among others), Hargassner has put together a complete team. This debut is undoubtedly worth noting!
