The „Jazz thing Next Generation“-series, on which Esther Kaiser, Anette von Eichel, Ignaz Dinné, Benjamin Schäfer, Martin Auer, Oktoposse, Cyminology, Christian Krischkowsky, Nadia Maria Fischer, Gary Fuhrmann, Tré, Coustics, Tobi Hofmann, Frederik Köster, HDV-Trio, Jochen Baldes Subnoder, Subtone , Adrian Reiter Quartet, Christof May, Lorenz Hargassner and Max Frankl have debuted on Double Moon Records, is now being continued, already with Volume 23.

Her name suggests as much: Jacobien was born in Amsterdam, but already moved to Germany with her parents as a child. She had classical piano lessons for 12 years, but then also began to sing in choirs of various styles at an early age. Everything changed in the middle of her 20s; she chose music as her main profession and voice as her main instrument. Since that time, she has taken lessons and attended workshops, among others with Maria Joao (who is still a friend of hers today), Mark Murphy, Theo Bleckmann and Bobby McFerrin. This list shows that Jacobien studied all genres to find her own expression in singing in the end. Following various distinctions (e.g., 1st prize in the „Jazz & Blues Award Berlin“), she is now releasing her debut CD.

Her quartet is composed of experienced musicians, who have been playing well together for some time. Kai Brückner plays electric and acoustic guitar and is known as co-founder of the band „Yakou Tribe“ (at the label Traumton) and „Thärichens Tentett“. As a student of John Abercrombie, among others, he is a much sought-after guitarist (not only) in the Berlin scene. Johannes Gunkel (bass) is also a solid member of the Berlin jazz scene; he has played with the RIAS Big Band, John Ruocco and Peter Weniger, among others. Rainer Winch has already presented his beats on CDs from artists such as Julia Hülsmann and Rebekka Bakken all the way to Paul Brody. Christian Weidner and Jan von Klewitz split the guest roles on the saxophone.

Extracts from the press:
“To put it succinctly, you could simply say that Jacobien Vlasman is the best jazz singer in the city!” (Der Tagesspiegel)

“...whispers and coos, clicks her tongues and rejoices so that the dark blue of the evening sky descends...” (Die Welt)

“Jacobien Vlasman, the sound artist. Her specialty is telling remarkable, touching stories with whooping, twists of the tongue, nonsense syllables and sighing.” (FAZ)
