Time Out/New York called him "The hardest-working saxophonist in new-music show business" Not without reason: Ken Thomson, co-founder of the successful band "Gutbucket", which has existed for more than 10 years, and musician in several other bands, has also composed numerous songs, among others, for "Bang On A Can" and the "American Composers Orchestra". His latest project is "Slow/Fast".

The consolidated skills of the band take characteristics from very different musical landscapes here: from blues to electronic avant-garde, from metal rock to hip hop, from modern jazz to pop. This is not at all to create a a hybrid from adjacent genres, but instead to create a merger of ingredients from the dialog of acoustic and electronic instruments to form a new, vital whole.
CD DetailsMusicians: Jerry Bergonzi ts, Jacek Kochan dr, Piotr Lemanczyk b
When he can be seen and heard in Europe, then he works with two musicians who are only known to connoisseurs in Germany. But Bergonzi knows exactly that they create an environment for him, which gives him all the freedom that a soloist needs in a small group without harmony instruments. And he proves with this "three-point shot" that he knows how to use this freedom in a unique and exciting way.
CD DetailsMusicians: Yelena Kuljic voc, Kristian Kowatsch p, Gary Hoopengardner b, Jan Roth dr
The program ranges from very variable and highly energetic own compositions to spontaneous free improvisations and all the way to reinterpreting big hits by Nirvana and The Doors. The pieces all have one thing in common: it is always a question of pronounced, uncompromising clarity of musical expression.

Edgar Allen Poe only wrote one single novel, and this music might appear to many to be as puzzling as it and its main character "Gordon Pym" – however, only to those people who wear acoustic blinders and whose most important pieces of furniture are pigeonholes.

Michael Lentz was born in Düren in 1964 and lives in Berlin today. He is one of the most well known German-language authors and has been distinguished with numerous prizes (among others, Ingeborg-Bachmann Prize, Sponsorship Prize of BDI, Prize of Literature Publishers). He is not only a gifted poet, but also a novelist and playwright and his recitals with voice and alto sax are outstanding.
CD DetailsMusicians: Tim Allhoff p, Andreas Kurz b, Bastian Jütte d
The seventh year of the successful series is starting with an extraordinary piano trio. Tim Allhoff, born in Augsburg in 1970, already started playing piano – self-taught – as a child, had the benefit of classical piano lessons later and then studied jazz piano at the Richard-Strauss Conservatory in Munich. He graduated with "magna cum laude" in 2007. The fact that he is a sideman much in demand in southern Germany goes without saying. But he does not limit himself to that, because he is much too busy, curious and ambitious.
CD DetailsMusicians: Charlotte Greve as, Manuel Schmiedel p, Marc Muellbauer b, Martin Krümmling dr
We should not overuse the term "child prodigy", even if this is what you want to say automatically when a young lady only 20 years old founds her own band and then records her first CD shortly afterward. When the whole project is also then light years from sounding like a school band, then at the latest you should start to listen more closely to the alto sax player Charlotte Greve.
