The Jazz Festival in Burghausen is an institution. The festival has been organized by its enterprising club and volunteer workers every year for the past 40 years and provides an international flair in the otherwise rather peaceful town of Burghausen year after year. All stars of the scene have already performed here, but many innovators, newcomers and crossover artists also showed up to honor jazz. BR alpha, the educational broadcasting show of Bavarian radio, was on site and has provided recordings, which set new standards both with respect to the picture quality and the directing as well as the sound quality.

"Blue Truth" is the result of this dedicated work. It is a testimony to the ability of a big band, which unites old hands and young musicians of the next generation in creating music with a great deal of zeal and passion, and it is also a testimony to the joy, with which a whole region not only keeps a genre alive that has often been dismissed as outmoded, but also provides grounds to optimistic about its prospering long into the future.
CD DetailsMusicians: Sebastian Gahler p, Nico Brandenburg b, René Marx dr
The three musicians of the Sebastian Gahler Trio have been taking a common path for four years, which can be heard very clearly. Not only the individual brilliance counts here, but also and especially their common sound. And from the start, the trio has sought this special sound, which - although it is distinguished by complex harmonies and complicated rhythms - develops an undreamt of lightness thanks to the catchy melody lines that almost let you sing along. The fact that they have already advanced very far on this path is proven by their debut in the series „Jazz thing Next Generation“! John Taylor is full of praise at any rate: “This is a skillful and impressive debut!”

„Club Boogaloo“ – the name denotes its significance: organ jazz in the tradition of Lou Donaldson, Lonnie Smith, Joey DeFrancesco and George Benson. The groove is the basis – funk, shuffle, swing and boogaloo. In addition, there are melodies and harmonies from blues, funk, soul and modern jazz. The Hammond B 3 always plays a pivotal role.
